Mothers of Harvest Expansion
The Mothers of Harvest program — TIDA's women-led initiative combining food security with creation care — has expanded to three new communities in Rwanda's Eastern Province.
Since its founding, Mothers of Harvest has trained over 200 women in sustainable agriculture techniques including composting, companion planting, and water-efficient irrigation. Participants establish kitchen gardens that provide nutrition for their families while modeling regenerative farming practices.
The expansion was driven by demand from neighboring communities who witnessed the program's impact: participating households report improved nutrition, reduced food expenses, and a deeper connection between their faith and care for the land.
Each new community receives six months of intensive training, starter seed kits, and ongoing mentorship from experienced Mothers of Harvest leaders. The program also includes a savings circle component, building economic resilience alongside environmental stewardship.
